Male Violence: Writings about male violence against women, Gábor Kuszing and Péter Szil editors

in

This book contains four writings from men that wish to call attention to the fact that men have a responsibility in stopping violence against women and children.

Johan Ehrenberg’s But Why, Why, Why Do Men Visit Prostitutes? is a call to men to abandon their views on sexuality and relationships that enable men to use prostitutes. Michael Kaufman’s The Seven P’s of Men’s Violence has a look at those permissions, power inequalities, psychic attitudes and ways of thinking through which society supports men in violence against women. Gábor Kuszing’s summary entitled Statistical Data on Intimate Partner Violence shows that the majority of the perpetrators of intimate partner abuse are men, its victims are women. Péter Szil’s Male Role, Father Role: From Power to Care is a study showing that the source of child abuse is patriarchy, which places the requirement of power to the centre of male and father role instead of caring.

As several of these essays are available in English, the entire publication is not reproduced here as one, but you will find the various writings by clicking on their titles.
